Frequently asked questions
About the tea, the farms and ordering. Not here? Email us.
What is orthodox tea?
Orthodox tea is whole-leaf tea that is withered slowly and rolled the traditional way, rather than machine-crushed into dust (CTC). This keeps the leaf's flavour and quality intact.
How does the 20% to farmers work?
We send 20% of revenue — not profit — from every pack back to the farm that grew the tea. It is computed per pack, paid on a real schedule, and reconciled publicly once a year.
Is rooibos caffeine-free?
Yes. Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free, so you can drink it any time of day, including the evening.
What is purple tea?
Purple tea comes from a naturally purple-leaf tea cultivar grown mainly in Kenya. The colour comes from anthocyanins (the same pigments as in blueberries). The cup is soft and gently floral, with less caffeine than black tea.
Where do you ship?
We currently deliver across the Netherlands and are expanding gradually to the rest of Europe. Costs and delivery times are on the Shipping & returns page.
Can I return loose-leaf tea?
Unopened products can be returned within 14 days. For hygiene reasons we cannot take back opened tea.
How should I store loose-leaf tea?
Dark, dry and airtight, away from strong smells. That keeps the whole leaf fresh the longest.
Do you offer a subscription?
Yes. Pick any two teas and we send them every month. Cancel anytime. Steady orders give farmers a predictable income.
